In a recent announcement, CBS News named Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews as the new President of CBS News, taking over top editorial oversight for the unit across all platforms. She served as the Senior VP of News Administration from 2015 to 2018 and as the VP of News from 2011 to 2015.[0] Prior to that, she worked as the CBS News Foreign Editor from 2006 to 2011 and as the Senior Broadcast Producer for the “CBS Evening News” from 2004 to 2006.[1] She also served as the Senior Producer for CBS News' foreign coverage from 2000 to 2004 and as the Deputy Bureau Chief for the CBS News London bureau from 1998 to 2000.[1]
In her new role, Ciprian-Matthews will not only oversee CBS News Radio, but also all CBS News programs, bureaus, global newsgathering, streaming, and digital editorial. She will also be responsible for standards and practices, special events, politics, elections and surveys, social, and the race and culture unit.
Ciprian-Matthews' promotion comes as Wendy McMahon takes on the position of President/CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.[2] With Ciprian-Matthews' extensive experience and leadership in journalism, she is well-equipped to guide CBS News forward.
